The
twins come from that indescribable core,
Beyond
darkness and light.
One
moves amongst people;
Covers
itself with different passions;
It
wears colors, masks, sips the emotions;
Takes
positions, assumes thoughts;
It
presents itself in an exciting manner;
People
are more comfortable with It.
The
other observes relentlessly.
It
does all that the first one does.
It
flows and maintains its identity.
It
is naked. It stares calmly.
So
it never attracts human beings.
It frightens.
One
always feels strange to face it.
For
ages they say: truth is stranger than fiction.
Indeed
it is.
The
Twinning seems ridiculously insane.

very well written
ReplyDeleteThanks Cifar Shayar.
DeleteLiked the 'twin' idea you presented there. A wonderful read.. :)
ReplyDeleteATB
Thanks viva_andya. Now when I look back to it, I realize that this idea needs to be elaborated. Drabble is not a good format for this kind of thought.
Deletei agree that this format needs to elaborated more...but still you have presented it very well :)

do drop in at:
- Don't Whine
Thanks Karan - for the visit and for the comment as well!
DeleteThe idea of truth and fiction being twins is actually quite intriguing. Having read this and thought about this a bit more, it seems almost natural. All news and current affairs are fiction presented as truth. Sci-Fi and Literature are truth presented as fiction. Everyday truth and fiction are moulded as each other to suit the narrator's purpose.
ReplyDeleteAn interesting piece.
Mixi (My BAT-37 entry)
Thanks Mixi. I always feel that what we see is either fiction or truth - but we never know which is what!
DeleteWhether art takes origin from life or is it the other way round ? . This is still a harrowing question floating during debate sections . Though art incepted taking inspiration from life , i strongly assume , today the second option has become more probable . The crazy guy gunning down the spectators at the theatre where Dark knights was being played speaks volumes of it . Wonderful piece on the mystery .
ReplyDeleteThanks Maliny. Yes who contributes to what - life and art - will always remain a topic of debate.
DeleteNicely written, I took some time to understand though :)
ReplyDeleteand hey i never knew what a "drabble" was untill i erad this post :)

-Snuffles Jay
Drop by here too someday
Snuffles, thank you for your visit and for the comment. I know , it has become too cryptic ... I need to work on the concept and the presentation.
DeleteInteresting way of putting it.. the 2 facets that you described.. different yet unseparable. One so friendly and appealing.. the other so ominous and unnerving. Nice post. First time that I read a drabble. All the best
ReplyDeleteThanks Shrikant Pednekar. I guess the inseparable nature of those two makes our understanding about it a bit difficult - though not always but certainly at times.
DeleteDef twins but like Jekyll and Hyde! :) good one!
ReplyDeleteJekyll and Hide :-)
DeleteAh! Akila, that is another important point of view ...
Brilliantly justified via medium of poetry, a tough task indeed.
ReplyDeleteRio De La Sciocco, Thanks. However, I won't call it a poem .. it just a 'free' writing .. no planned format.
DeleteThe thought behind it is quite unique .."twins"..I agree with you that if elaborated more would have been a striking piece..but this too had an amazing impact on the senses..Wonderful..
ReplyDeleteodyzz, I need to work on this concept and its presentation. Sure, some other time :-)
Deletewow,
ReplyDeletei learnt something new today.
asteroa, I too learnt about Drabble only recently :-)
DeleteThe body and the soul twins was my first thought, but it can also be emotions and mind. :)
ReplyDeleteAh! There could be so many 'twins'. However, here I intended to talk about Truth and Fiction.
Deleteit shouldn't have been drabble....but its good nonetheless.
ReplyDeleteYes, another attempt is needed - without Drabble!
DeleteThis 'twins' as a pair of opposites.Interesting..:) However, sadly there is no consensus as to the rationale of this opposition..no? Loved it..
ReplyDeleteATB..for BAT!!
Panchali, thanks. Consensus or lack of it makes the twinning, in a way, I mean!
DeleteThough truth and Fiction are twins..they act differently in different places. I see fiction in the real world and Truth in Reel world. Its easy to get phd in Naked sciences but hard to pass ro show Naked truth..because of uncivilized society...:) :). Very well written Aativas.Im happy that I understood poetic versions easily...:):).
ReplyDeleteThanks Vajra. Fiction is always 'presentable' and hence acceptable , truth is not so! That is the reason we tend to get more 'fiction' in life as well.
DeleteYou know I am a gemini.. and considering that we depict dual personalities.. I could somehow relate to the twins concept in a very different way.. took me some time to come back from that imaginative world., great.. all the best :)
ReplyDeleteThat is great, Karan. We all need imagination to understand truth. Thanks.
DeleteNice idea,well presented :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Anu ...:-)
DeleteAt first i realized you were talking about shadow, but of course, i understood later.
ReplyDeleteWell written :)
Neeta
It somehow reminds me of Gemini Twins.. well written
